After hours emergencies are shared with Truro Veterinary Hospital. Calls are forwarded to the answering service who record the specifics of your pet's emergency and contact the veterinarian on call. The veterinarian will return your call and direct you to the appropriate hospital.

An emergency team consists of at least one veterinarian and several technicians working together to save a pet's life. We try to fit in all emergencies that occur during regular office hours, however Saturdays and weeknights have minimal staffing and depending on the shared emergency schedule, you may need to be directed to another veterinary hospital to receive proper care with the appropriate number of emergency staff members.
We are also available for urgent care when the condition is not life-threatening. If your pet requires urgent treatment before you are able to get an appointment, our veterinarians will work to get them in within the same day or the next day. It is best to call before coming, there may be a wait or you may be asked to leave your pet for the day so they are in the building whenever we can spare a few extra moments.
Emergencies involve unexpected costs. An estimate is provided where possible and a deposit required.
